MSEEM Major Courses
| Course Code | Course Title | Brief Description |
| ENE504M | Total Quality and Environmental Management | The course provides an overview of different technological solutions to problems pertaining to energy and environmental issues. In addition, develops skills in cost-effective management of total resources (man, machine, method, materials, energy, and water) and in managing industrial (primary, secondary, and tertiary) development within tight environmental constraints. Modules also have economic, management, science, and engineering backgrounds. |
| ENE505M | Envirometrics | This graduate course provides an overview of quantitative methods in the environmental engineering and management. It provides essential statistical and operation research tools for understanding, predicting, and managing the impacts of agents, both man-made and natural, which affect the environment. Basic and applied research in this area covers a broad range of topics. But beyond measurement and mathematics, “envirometrics” has become a meeting ground for the ecologist, the natural and social scientist, the engineer and statistician, and ultimately the political scientist. These approaches include multi-variate analysis and multi-criteria analysis that can be used for risk management and environmental decision-making. Case studies are employed to emphasize the applications of such knowledge of the theories and skills in analyzing and understanding environmental issues, problems and solutions. |
| ENE506M | Product and Process Design for Environmental Engineering | This course is an introductory course of Design for Environment (DfE) as applied to the assessment of product or process alternatives. Design for Environment is undertaken using Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and other sustainability concepts (e.g., P2/CP or pollution prevention/cleaner production) that are illustrated through the case studies, software demos, and product dissection projects. An integrated, problem-based approach is employed and students are expected to make use of available LCA programs for the analysis of real or realistic case studies. |
