WIPO and ASEAN TISC Delegates Visit DLSU

Representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the ASEAN Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) visited De La Salle University on 05 February 2026 at the Philippe Jones Lhuillier Conference Room, 14F, Henry Sy Sr. Hall. The delegation was hosted by the DLSU Intellectual Property Office (DIPO) and the DLSU Innovation and Technology Office (DITO).
The visit formed part of the WIPO TISC Regional Meeting for Strengthening the ASEAN Regional Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) Network, where delegates visited selected model Innovation and Technology Support Offices (ITSOs) in the Philippines. The visits and related activities were hosted by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) with support from WIPO, reinforcing regional efforts to strengthen intellectual property systems and innovation support mechanisms across Southeast Asia.
The program began with the arrival of guests, followed by a general campus tour led by DIPO interns. The tour provided an overview of the University’s academic environment, facilities, and student spaces, offering delegates a broader perspective of campus life and DLSU’s research-driven community.
Program Highlights
Dr. Raymond Girard R. Tan, Vice President for Research and Innovation, delivered the opening remarks, underscoring the University’s commitment to advancing research excellence and translating innovations into societal impact. This was followed by a message of support from Dr. Anthony SF. Chiu, Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization.
Ms. Pamela Raye Tadeo, University IP Officer, presented the office’s mandate, services, and initiatives in supporting researchers and strengthening IP awareness within the Lasallian community and beyond. Mr. Peter Immanuel Tenido, Project Director of DITO, discussed commercialization pathways and industry engagement initiatives that enable research outputs to reach the market.
Testimonials from Dr. Joel P. Ilao, CEO of VISON Technologies Corporation and Director at the College of Computer Studies, and Ms. Alessandra Diomaro, Executive Director for Program Development of Intellectual Property Advocates, the first student organization promoting intellectual property advocacy in the Philippines, further highlighted the impact of DLSU’s innovation and IP ecosystem.
The program concluded with an open forum and closing remarks from Atty. Christopher E. Cruz, PhD, University Legal Counsel, Director of DIPO, and Manager of DITO, followed by a networking lunch.
Through this engagement, DLSU reaffirmed its role as an active partner in strengthening the ASEAN TISC network and advancing intellectual property awareness, innovation support, and technology transfer in the region.
