My research interests lie in tiling theory, which integrates ideas from various areas of mathematics, including linear algebra, group theory, discrete geometry, and topology, to study tilings and tiling spaces. This field also connects mathematics with physics and chemistry, particularly in areas such as condensed matter physics and materials science, where tilings are used as mathematical models for crystals and quasicrystals.
I earned my PhD in Mathematics from Ateneo de Manila University, where my work focused on aperiodic tilings, particularly those exhibiting dense tile orientations and n-fold rotational symmetry. Prior to this, I completed my MS in Mathematics at the University of the Philippines Baguio, where my thesis examined periodic structures, specifically color-fixing groups of colored patterns. I obtained my BS in Mathematics from Saint Louis University in Baguio City.
Since completing my PhD, I have continued working on aperiodic tilings. In particular, I study substitution tilings in the Euclidean plane and explore their algebraic, geometric, and statistical properties. My recent work includes octagonal tilings with three prototiles and tilings exhibiting infinite local complexity.
