St. Miguel Febres Cordero PhD
Scholarship Program

The St. Miguel Febres Cordero PhD Scholarship Program supports outstanding full-time doctoral students enrolled in PhD programs at De La Salle University (DLSU) through a competitive, merit-based selection process.

Application Requirements and Procedure

Term 1, AY 2026-2027

Scholarship Benefits

  • Full tuition and miscellaneous fee waiver
  • Monthly stipend of Php 35,000
  • Support for up to four (4) academic years, subject to term-by-term evaluation and adviser endorsement

Eligible Applicants

  • Applicants to any PhD program at DLSU
  • Incoming students, current DLSU graduate students, and pre-graduation applicants (enrolling in the PhD program within one year)

Key Conditions

  • Full-time study with at least 6 units per term (12 units encouraged)
  • 40 hours per week devoted to study and research
  • Completion timeline:
    • Coursework and exams: Years 1–2
    • Dissertation: Years 3–4
  • No outside employment; official leave from work is required
  • Benefits apply only during active enrollment
  • Applications must be submitted through an official full-time DLSU faculty adviser, who will serve as the applicant’s sponsor and submit an endorsement letter

Find an Academic Adviser

All applicants must secure a full-time DLSU faculty member as their official sponsor. To identify a suitable adviser:

(1) Visit the De La Salle University website

(2) Navigate to the College / School offering your PhD program

(3) Select the specific academic department

(4) Review the faculty profiles and areas of expertise (where available)

Note that not all colleges or departments display detailed faculty profiles and research expertise listings on their pages. In such cases, the list of college administrators by college and department, available at [this link], can still be very helpful. It provides the names of department chairs, coordinators, and other key administrators, who are often full-time faculty members and can either serve as potential advisers themselves or guide you to appropriate faculty in their unit.

Email Guidance:

In most cases (approximately 90% of DLSU faculty), email addresses follow a standard format: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) (e.g., if the faculty member’s name is Dr. Allan Bernardo, the likely email is [email protected]). Use this pattern to construct probable email addresses based on the names you find, or contact the department office for confirmation if needed.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact potential advisers before submitting the scholarship application.

Application Period (Term 1, AY 2026–2027 Intake)

Important Notes on the Application Process

Applicants who have not yet been admitted to any PhD program at De La Salle University (DLSU) may apply for the scholarship in advance, even if their intended start term is Term 1, AY 2026–2027. Once admitted to a PhD program, the applicant may request a deferment, and the scholarship will take effect in Term 1, AY 2026–2027.

During the Term 3 Graduate School application period of the current Academic Year, certain PhD programs may not be available in the Archer’s Hub portal. Applicants whose intended PhD program is offered exclusively during Term 1 may submit their scholarship application in advance and complete the program application once the program becomes available.

For the list of PhD programs at DLSU and the terms in which they are offered, please refer to this link.
