AB-ISE Curriculum
Program Background
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies program is an interdisciplinary program that equips students with the foundations of international relations and global society, the theoretical and practical knowledge from country, region, or area studies, and a cosmopolitan mindset that engages with diverse cultures and perspectives to cultivate an awareness of contemporary global issues and innovations and to proficiently navigate and meaningfully contribute to the globalized world.
Majoring in the European Studies Program (AB-ISE) aims to provide students with the practical knowledge of foreign relations, international politics, and the global economy from the perspective of Europe. Moreover, this multidisciplinary program deals with comprehensive topics related to the European state, society, and market in the ongoing dynamic process of globalization, combining elements of international relations, history, politics, economics, and culture in its major courses. With this, students gain knowledge of the EU’s institutions, policies, and integration process, as well as its relations with other regions in the world. Students are also given the opportunity to learn a foreign language (e.g., French, Italian, Spanish).
Career opportunities for students in the program include being a foreign policy analyst and a strategic studies expert for both public and private enterprises. Foreign service, diplomacy, and embassy and international organizations work (i.e., UN, IMF-WB, ADB, ASEAN, etc.) are also possible career opportunities for graduates. Other related opportunities include, tourism, translation, interpretation, entrepreneurship, business, corporate jobs, the service industry, media, and journalism. Graduates may also opt to work in academia, teaching, and research, while also taking up further studies (MA and PhD).
