About the DITO

The DLSU Innovation and Technology Office (DITO) is the University’s primary provider of intellectual property (IP) and knowledge and technology transfer (KTT) services. Our work has led to the growth of DLSU’s patent portfolio and to licenses granted to its spinoffs. Beyond DLSU, we also share our expertise with other universities, individual inventors, and emerging startups. Through our programs and capacity-building engagements, we have contributed to stronger IP management and KTT capabilities, with enhanced policies and practices adopted by our partners. We help researchers and innovators transform their ideas and research projects into products and services that address problems, create value, and support inclusive economic growth in the country.

DITO’s Origins

The DITO was established in 2011 originally to perform the services of an Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). In particular, ITSOs were set up to be patent libraries, designed to make patent information and expertise available to their home institutions and to the public.

The DITO Now

Today, the DITO continues to perform its patent-related functions, but now also does:

  • Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) Operational Support, including IP valuation, industry analysis, market study, customer discovery, and technology licensing negotiation and management.
  • Capacity-building in all areas of IP Management and Knowledge & Technology Transfer.

The DITO Vision

To become the leading provider of intellectual property protection and commercialization services for academic institutions and MSMEs in the Philippines.

The DITO Mission

To provide services that accelerate the transformation of ideas into innovations that benefit society.
