DLSU Foundation Courses and Lasallian Examination for Advance Placement (LEAP)

What is the Lasallian Examination for Advance Placement (LEAP)?

LEAP is an optional placement exam that accepted applicants for A.Y. 2026-2027 may take. Incoming first-year college students can be exempted from taking foundation courses if they pass the subject-area-specific placement exams prescribed under their respective degree programs.

 

What are the DLSU foundation courses?

The foundation courses across all disciplines are:

  1. Basic Chemistry
  2. Foundation Course in Mathematics
  3. Physics Fundamentals
  4. Basic Biology
  5. Fundamentals of Accountancy, Business and Management
  6. Business Mathematics and Finance
  7. Applied Economics
  8. Organization and Management
  9. Principles of Marketing

Can I be exempted from taking the foundation courses, and therefore, not required to take the placement exam?

The following students are automatically exempted from taking the Foundation Courses prescribed by their degree program and no need to take LEAP:

  1. Students from *La Salle ConnectEd Schools who have achieved a minimum grade of 87 or 2.5 in SHS subjects aligned with DLSU foundation courses
    (see full details here: Guidelines in Crediting Senior High School Subjects).
    *NOTE: La Salle ConnectEd Schools include the following campuses: (1) DLSU Senior High School, Taft Campus; (2) DLSU Integrated School, Laguna Campus; (3) De La Salle Zobel; and (4) La Salle Greenhills.
  2. Archer Achiever Scholars (for students in degree programs aligned with their SHS strand).

 

Do strand-shifters need foundation courses? (NOTE: A strand-shifter is someone whose SHS strand and college degree are in different fields.)

Strand shifters are required to take foundation courses and should not take LEAP.

How can I register and take the LEAP?

To be eligible for LEAP registration, incoming first-year college students must meet the following:

  • have paid the P10,000.00 non-refundable reservation/confirmation fee
  • issued with DLSU Student ID Number
  • Active DLSU Gmail account
  • Active Achers Hub student portal account

To register, student must access their Archers Hub account via [email protected]. Go to Services and click Apply for LEAP module and choose the preferred LEAP exam corresponding to the foundation course for exemption in the degree program.

Is there a fee associated with the LEAP?

LEAP testing fee is P100.00 per subject.  Payment of the testing fee may be made online through Unionbank for credit or debit card payment or through Dragonpay for other online payment options.

Please note that the LEAP Exam Fee is non-refundable. Requests for refund will not be accommodated:

  • If an applicant takes the LEAP but has been later determined to be exempted in the foundation course based on other crediting criteria.
  • If the applicant applied for LEAP beyond the deadline of registration. Please note the important dates below.

How would I know the subject areas that I should take?

Upon online registration for LEAP, the system will automatically generate the subject areas relevant to your degree program. Each test will take a maximum of two (2) hours to finish.

When will the LEAP registration start and what are the test dates?

Registration Period : 04 to 10 June 2026 only
Foundation Course Exams :

For LEAP Exam (Day 2) : 21 June 2026 (Sunday)
Registration Period :    11 to 16 June 2026 only
Foundation Course Exams :

How will I know the other details (time and venue) of the exam?

Once registered, student must access and print their LEAP Test Exam Permit through the Archers Hub student portal [email protected] during the schedule below:

Access/Print Test Permit : 11 June 2026 (Thursday)

 

For LEAP Exam : 21 June 2026 (Sunday)
